QR Code Printing

What is a QR Code?

Make no mistake, QR codes are an effectitive social tool which, if used right, can increase your sales. Technically, a QR Code, or “Quick Response” code, is a popular type of two-dimensional barcode. 2D barcodes can hold more data in the same space as 1D barcodes (such as UPC)  because they encode data both horizontally as well as vertically.

Why You Should Be Using QR Codes

Very popular on Realtor signs, QR codes are also very effective on business cards, postcards, postcards... basically anything in print. Why? Well, it's a matter of memory and data. A QR code can store an enormous amount of information (data) in a very little space (QR code). Have you ever wished you could give your elevator sales pitch instead of just pass out a card? Now you can. With a QR code on that business card, you could direct your potential clients to a video you made doing exactly that. Much more personal. Much more memorable. And to top it off, you just made yourself look very business smart with your use of QR technology. Not a bad first impression. How about memory? Ever forget that web address or phone number you were interested in? Now you can just click a code and the QR code remembers for you.

Or how about not having business cards with you at all in that same moment of time? If your potential client (or whomever for that matter) has a smart phone, he can scan your code and download your contact information immediately. We print many QR stickers for exactly that purpose. Put them on the back of your cell phone, invoices, mailers... you get the idea. Now you have a virtual business card everywhere you go.

However the most compelling reason of all to use a QR code may not be convenience, but just how simple to use they really are. Just download a free QR code reader to your phone (we recommend Barcode Scanner by Zxing), snap a picture and viola! In addition, there are many sites that allow you to create codes for free and yet other sites that allow you to create high res codes for print and get analytics. (Do make sure to use high resolution QR codes for print. We can't tell you how many people want to use a low resolution web quality code and blow it up on a poster... not good).

How to Use QR Codes in Marketing

qr code use

Of course, first impressions isn't the only thing a QR code is good for. According to Google, “QR Codes store up to 4,296 alphanumeric characters of arbitrary text."  This text can be anything, a URL, directions to your store, a telephone number,  video, a special offer, real estate listing or even an event. Recently a church I work with has begun to post QR codes into their event calendar. Now with just one click the event downloads as an ical event to the smart phone. If you're as geeky as we are, you're thinking that's pretty sweet right about now. Speaking of which, the list goes on and I bet you've already thought of a few uses that would be useful for you just in the time you've been reading this.

Additionally, QR codes don't have to be big  to be effective (we do recommend no smaller than a 1" x1"  for anything in print) and don't have to look ugly. See how nice the QR business card and QR realtor postcard looks?
